LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the purchase of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation in a move aimed at stabilizing wheat and flour prices across the province.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore, the chief minister reviewed the overall wheat supply situation and discussed measures to maintain price stability in the local market.
Officials briefed the meeting on current wheat availability, production costs, and ongoing market fluctuations affecting flour prices. It was decided that wheat will be supplied to flour mills at a fixed rate of Rs3,300 per maund to support price control efforts.
The meeting, also held via video link, focused on preventing further price increases and ensuring a consistent supply of essential food commodities to consumers.

Authorities said the initiative is designed to support flour mills, reduce production costs, and ensure affordable access to wheat flour for the public.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need for timely and effective interventions to protect citizens from inflationary pressures. She directed departments to ensure transparent distribution, strict monitoring of supply chains, and coordination with PASSCO and flour mill associations.
She further instructed officials to monitor market prices closely and take immediate action against any artificial shortages or price manipulation.
The provincial government stated that the decision is part of broader efforts to stabilize essential food prices and provide relief to consumers across Punjab.
