PTI Leaders Urge Rule of Law and Dialogue to Resolve Political Crisis

Omar Ayub Criticizes Mohsin Naqvi's Use of Excessive Force in Protest Handling

ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a press conference, stressing the importance of adhering to the rule of law and the Constitution amid the ongoing political turmoil. The party reiterated its commitment to resolving the crisis through peaceful means, including legal battles, protests, and, most crucially, dialogue.

Shibli Faraz, a key PTI leader, emphasized that the party is committed to a peaceful struggle for justice, with the hope that the courts will deliver a fair verdict. He underlined that PTI’s politics would always operate within the framework of the Constitution and the rule of law.

Faraz also called for responsible engagement from the current government in negotiations, stressing that the success or failure of any talks would depend on their approach. He condemned the politically motivated cases against PTI leaders, asserting that these were baseless and fueled by personal vendettas. Faraz further highlighted the party’s firm stance against violence and fascism, asserting that the country must operate on constitutional principles rather than personal agendas. He also demanded the immediate release of all detained PTI members as a precondition for meaningful negotiations.

The PTI leaders also criticized the current government for its handling of Pakistan’s economic challenges. They pointed to the influence of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as exacerbating the hardships faced by the common people. Faraz stressed that economic stability is intrinsically tied to political stability, urging the government to take responsibility for the current crisis.

Omar Ayub, another PTI leader, criticized Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s handling of protests, pointing to his statement about clearing D-Chowk in five minutes as an example of excessive force. Ayub stressed that such actions are not the solution to Pakistan’s political unrest.

Asad Qaiser raised concerns over the government’s unclear policies regarding Afghanistan, suggesting that the lack of a coherent strategy is damaging Pakistan’s strategic interests.

The PTI leaders concluded the press conference by calling for sincere and inclusive negotiations to resolve the country’s political and economic challenges, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the stability and well-being of the nation over personal or political interests.
