PTI announces not to boycott elections

Barrister Gohar said that the PTI would file a review of the ECP’s decision.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Monday announced that the party would not boycott the upcoming general elections 2024.

The decision came after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruled that PTI would not be allowed to use its iconic bat symbol in the elections.

In a press conference, Barrister Gohar said that the PTI was disappointed with the ECP’s decision, but that the party would not back down or give up. He said that the decision had affected the rights of 25 million PTI supporters, and that it was a blow to democracy.

Barrister Gohar said that the PTI would file a review of the ECP’s decision, but that the party would also participate in the elections with any other symbol that was allocated to it. He said that the PTI was confident that it would win the elections, even without its traditional symbol.

Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister and former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, on Monday challenged the case of their Nikah during Iddat in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

It is learnt that her lawyers are trying to schedule the case for hearing today.

The applicant submitted that the case is based on malice and the decision of additional session’s judge East on January 11 be declared null and void.

The applicant prayed that the case be ordered dismissed and the proceedings of the trial court be stayed pending the pendency of her plea.
