PSQCA Launches Nationwide Crackdown on Substandard and Illegal Products

Inspection teams removed numerous unregistered and unlicensed products from retail shelves across Lahore.

LAHORE — The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has initiated a sweeping crackdown across the country against manufacturers and sellers of substandard, harmful, and unlicensed products, reaffirming its commitment to protecting consumers and enforcing national quality standards.

The action follows direct instructions from Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi. Director General PSQCA, Dr. Syeda Zia Batool, has ordered immediate enforcement measures across all operational zones. In line with these directions, the Conformity Assessment (CA) Lahore Zone has launched a large-scale operation targeting unlicensed and unsafe items, particularly various types of substandard poultry feed.

Inspection teams removed numerous unregistered and unlicensed products from retail shelves across Lahore. Store managements were issued strict notices to immediately cease the sale of illegal and substandard items, with warnings of legal action in cases of non-compliance.

The Authority has also issued 35 formal notices under Section 14 of the PSQCA Act, 1996, to poultry feed manufacturers operating without the required Certification Mark (CM) license and failing to meet national standards. These notices span six districts within the CA Lahore Zone: Lahore, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, Sheikhupura, and Kasur. Manufacturers have been directed to promptly meet PSQCA compliance requirements and obtain the mandatory CM licenses.

A PSQCA spokesperson confirmed that the campaign is set to intensify in the coming days. “This is only the beginning. The crackdown will be tightened and expanded to eliminate all substandard and illegal products from the market. Our top priority is consumer protection and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of quality-assured goods to every citizen,” the spokesperson said.

PSQCA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining market integrity, safeguarding public health, and ensuring all products comply with the rigorous standards established by the Government of Pakistan.
