PSL 11: Babar Azam becomes fastest batter to score 12,000 T20 runs
Zalmi skipper reaches the milestone in just 338 innings and becomes the quickest ever to join the elite 12,000-run T20 club
Babar Azam – (Web Desk) – Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam wrote his name in the record books on Thursday, achieving something truly special — becoming the fastest batter ever to score 12,000 runs in men’s T20 cricket. The milestone came during Zalmi’s PSL 11 clash against Karachi Kings at the National Bank Stadium, and the moment was nothing short of magical.
Babar walked into the match needing just 13 more runs to reach the landmark. He got there in style — smashing a six off Khushdil Shah on the third ball of the fourth over, and just like that, history was made.
At just 31 years old, the stylish right-hander became only the 12th batter in the world to join this exclusive 12,000-run club in men’s T20 cricket — rubbing shoulders with legends like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Pakistan’s own Shoaib Malik.

What makes this even more remarkable? Babar got there in just 338 innings — faster than anyone else. Gayle, who held the previous record, needed 345 innings. Kohli and David Warner, two of the finest in the game, took 360 and 368 innings respectively.
