President Zardari Highlights Need for Regional Connectivity and Cooperation
Focus on Cultural and Economic Cooperation at International Forum in Turkmenistan
President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of enhancing connectivity among regional nations to foster cultural and economic collaboration. He made these remarks while addressing the International Forum on “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development” in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on Friday.
The forum commemorates the 300th birth anniversary of Magtymguly Faragi, a prominent Turkmen philosopher, poet, and thinker.
President Zardari noted the strong bond of brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, founded on mutual respect, shared beliefs, and a common vision for a peaceful future.
He expressed gratitude to the Turkmen government and its people for hosting this prestigious event, aimed at promoting cultural understanding, peace, and dialogue.
The President also highlighted the parallels between Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and Turkmen literary giant Makhdum Gulli Fraghi, particularly in their shared themes of Sufism and nationalism.
He commended Turkmenistan’s President, Sardar Berdi Muhammedov, for organizing this significant event, which not only celebrates the legacy of Makhdum Gulli Fraghi but also creates opportunities for regional leaders to strengthen friendships.
Additionally, President Zardari congratulated the Turkmen people on designating 2024 as the “Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Makhdum Gulli.”
He expressed confidence that the discussions and exchanges during this conference would honor Makhdum Gulli’s legacy while opening new avenues for cultural collaboration between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
