President Xi hosts Spain’s Prime Minister in China to bolster relations

Spain Seeks Stronger Trade Ties with China Amid Growing Global Tensions

China & Spain – (Web Desk) – China’s leader Xi Jinping sat down with Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing on Tuesday. The two leaders met at the famous Great Hall of the People, as reported by Chinese state media.

This was the second day of Sanchez’s visit to China. His main goal is to build a stronger relationship between Spain and China, covering trade and business cooperation.

Sanchez also hopes to act as a connecting bridge between China and the rest of Europe. This matters especially now, as European countries are facing a difficult relationship with the United States.

China’s national broadcaster CCTV confirmed the meeting, saying both leaders came together in a spirit of friendship and cooperation.

Sanchez is seeking to strengthen economic ties with the world’s second-largest economy, but called China’s trade imbalance with the EU “unsustainable” on Monday.

The Spanish prime minister is on his fourth visit to China in four years and follows a steady flow of Western leaders visiting Beijing in recent months as President Donald Trump’s tariffs and unpredictable foreign policy have rattled the US’s traditional allies.
