Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) President Dr. Arif Alvi conferred awards on the newly-appointed senior military leaders in recognition of their valuable services.
According to the source, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir were awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military). PM Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, federal ministers and officers of the armed forces attended the ceremony.
As per details General Asim Munir assumed command as the new army chief vice retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, while Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza replaced Gen Nadeem Raza as new CJCSC in November last. The federal government chose two senior-most generals for the top slots.
