Medical Association Seeks Enhanced Security Following Attack On Dr Abdul Ghafoor Shoro

LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has strongly condemned a firing incident targeting the vehicle of Dr Abdul Ghafoor Shoro, Secretary-General of PMA Centre, in which he remained unharmed.

In a statement issued on Monday, PMA Lahore described the attack on Dr Shoro’s vehicle as an assault on the entire medical community, expressing relief that he escaped the incident safely.

The association urged the Sindh and federal governments to take immediate notice of the incident and ensure the arrest of those involved. It also demanded strict legal action and exemplary punishment for the attackers.

PMA Lahore further called for adequate security arrangements for Dr Shoro to prevent any future attacks and ensure his safety.

The association said it had repeatedly raised concerns over the lack of effective security measures for doctors working in hospitals as well as those providing services at private clinics.

Reaffirming its stance against violence targeting medical professionals, PMA Lahore stressed that attacks on doctors would not be tolerated under any circumstances. It urged the authorities to ensure a secure working environment so that healthcare professionals could perform their duties without fear.
