PM Shehbaz Sharif Visits Azad Kashmir, Condemns Violence Amid Peaceful Protests

Muzaffarabad– On a one-day visit to Azad Kashmir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the cabinet of Azad Jammu and Kashmir alongside Prime Minister Anwar Haq. In his remarks, PM Sharif highlighted that while the ongoing protests in Azad Kashmir were largely peaceful, some disruptive elements had infiltrated the demonstrators.
Prime Minister Sharif condemned the loss of life that occurred during the protests, attributing it to the actions of these malicious individuals. He expressed gratitude towards the coalition partners for their valuable advice and swift response, announcing a financial support package of 23 billion rupees for Azad Kashmir, which has already been transferred to the region’s government accounts. He emphasized that this assistance is a duty, not a favor.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the people of Azad Kashmir, PM Sharif stated that the region’s development and prosperity are intrinsically linked to Pakistan’s own progress. He reassured the citizens that their voices are being heard on a global platform.

The Prime Minister also underscored Pakistan’s steadfast diplomatic, political, and moral support for the people of occupied Kashmir, reiterating that their sacrifices will not go in vain. He drew parallels with the situation in Palestine, criticizing the international community for its silence on the atrocities, where 36,000 individuals have been martyred.
