PM Shehbaz held telephonic conversation with his Nawaz Sharif and discussed political situation in Punjab

Lahore: (Staff Reporter) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held telephonic conversation with PMLN’s supremo Nawaz Sharif on Friday and discussed ongoing political situation in Punjab. Sources said top PMLN leaders discussed a strategy to hold general elections in March or April this year. Nawaz Sharif asked PM Shehbaz to give important directions to the Punjab Governor to tackle the political situation in Punjab. The premiere also contacted former president and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and discussed in detail the political situation after no confidence motion episode.

According to the source, the development comes a day after the Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi had signed a summary for dissolution of Punjab Assembly day after he obtained vote of confidence from Punjab Assembly amid ruckus and opposition’s boycott following weeks of political turbulence in the province. The decision to dissolve the assembly had been taken in a meeting between the chief minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan held at Zaman Park, where senior party leaders were also present.

As per details speaking to the media on Thursday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the Punjab CM has signed the summary asking the Governor to dissolve provincial assembly. The PTI leader said that the advice has been sent to the Punjab Governor. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly will also be dissolved with the Punjab Assembly. Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan had completed consultation with the party leadership and the Punjab Assembly and decided to dissolve Punjab Assembly.

Sources privy to the development said the PTI leadership had rejected the suggestion to delay dissolution of the provincial assembly till February and instead the assembly could be dissolved tonight.
