Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed delight over the inaugural visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, to Pakistan. The visit marks a significant milestone in the longstanding and brotherly relations between the two countries.

According to reports from private television channels, a ceremony was held where various memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistan and Iran, signifying mutual cooperation across diverse sectors. President Raisi and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif participated in the signing ceremony, which saw the conclusion of eight agreements between the two nations.

Addressing the gathering at the ceremony, the Prime Minister remarked on the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, highlighting the importance of bilateral cooperation in security, trade, and various other facets. He emphasized that both countries share a rich history of political, economic, and cultural relations, dating back to Pakistan’s inception in 1947, and underscored the need to harness these ties for mutual progress and the welfare of their peoples.

Prime Minister Sharif further lauded the beauty of Iran and its people, welcoming President Raisi to Islamabad and remarking on the beauty of the capital city. He expressed optimism about the prospects of enhanced cooperation between the two nations in various fields.

Prior to the ceremony, both Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their commitment to bilateral cooperation by signing agreements on security cooperation, judicial assistance, veterinary and animal health cooperation, and the establishment of special economic zones. Additionally, agreements were reached on maritime cooperation, human resources development, cultural exchange, and mutual legal assistance between the two countries’ legal ministries.

The signing of these agreements underscores the determination of both Pakistan and Iran to strengthen their ties and explore new avenues for collaboration, paving the way for a more prosperous and interconnected future.

A momentous ceremony was held in Islamabad where various memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistan and Iran, further solidifying cooperation across different sectors. The event witnessed the participation of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.

Eight MoUs were signed between Pakistan and Iran, covering areas of mutual interest and collaboration. Among these agreements, joint economic zones were established, while agreements pertaining to civil matters were inked in the realm of judicial cooperation.

Security cooperation agreements and agreements related to veterinary and animal health were also formalized between Pakistan and Iran, reflecting the commitment of both nations to enhance mutual security and address common challenges.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of the discussions held between the two delegations, highlighting the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Iran. He remarked on the significance of the bilateral ties, spanning over 76 years since Iran was one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan upon its establishment.

Prime Minister Sharif commended President Raisi for his expertise in jurisprudence and law, noting ongoing efforts towards peace in Gaza. He expressed gratitude for Iran’s solidarity on issues like Kashmir and underscored the importance of raising voices against oppression.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recited verses of an Iranian poet relating to Pakistan, symbolizing the cultural exchange and shared heritage between the two nations.

Earlier, President Ibrahim Raisi was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, where he interacted with members of the Pakistani federal cabinet and explored various sections of the premises.

The visit and signing of agreements signify a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for collaboration across various domains, setting the stage for enhanced cooperation and mutual prosperity between Pakistan and Iran.
