Punjab Healthcare Commission Seals 692 Outlets in Anti-Quackery Campaign

LAHORE: (Web Desk)  – The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has stepped up its province-wide action against quackery, sealing 692 illegal medical outlets during a four-week anti-quackery campaign, according to a report aired by 24NewsHD on Sunday.

A PHC spokesperson said enforcement teams carried out 3,014 raids across all districts of Punjab, targeting individuals providing medical treatment without legal authorisation. Lahore recorded the highest number of operations, with 1,105 raids leading to the closure of 303 illegal treatment centres.

In Sargodha, 33 unauthorised outlets were sealed following 208 raids, while 29 centres were shut down in Multan after 204 inspections. Faisalabad authorities sealed 34 facilities out of 154 inspected, whereas 17 illegal businesses were closed in Khanewal during 119 raids.

The crackdown also extended to districts including Bahawalnagar, Chiniot, Gujranwala, Jhang, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Okara and Nankana Sahib, where several unauthorised healthcare centres were sealed.

The spokesperson added that 256 locations were found to have permanently discontinued quackery and shifted to lawful businesses, while 1,793 healthcare facilities have been placed under continuous monitoring to ensure regulatory compliance.

The commission revealed that more than 251,000 healthcare facilities have been inspected across Punjab so far, resulting in the permanent closure of around 64,700 quackery outlets. Additionally, over 30,200 individuals have reportedly abandoned illegal medical practices due to sustained enforcement efforts.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding public health, the PHC warned that strict action would continue against those endangering lives through unauthorised medical treatment.
