Pakistan’s Registered Religious Schools Total 17,738, Enrolling Over 2.2 Million Students: Federal Minister

Islamabad, December 19 (APP): The total number of registered religious schools (madrasas) across Pakistan stands at 17,738, with a combined enrollment of 2,249,520 students. This was revealed by Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar during a session of the Senate on Thursday, in response to a question by Senator Samina Mumtaz Zahri regarding the status of religious schools in the country.

According to the data provided, Punjab leads with 10,012 registered madrasas and 664,665 students. Sindh follows with 2,416 madrasas and 188,182 students, while Balochistan has 575 madrasas with 71,815 students. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is home to 4,505 registered madrasas, catering to 1,283,024 students.

In Azad Kashmir, there are 445 madrasas with 26,787 students, while Islamabad has 199 madrasas with 11,301 students. Lastly, Gilgit-Baltistan has 86 madrasas and 4,346 students.
