Pakistan’s Affan Salman Wins World Youth Scrabble Championship 2024

ISLAMABAD- Affan Salman, a 16-year-old from Pakistan, has clinched the title at the 19th World Youth Scrabble Championship 2024 held in Sri Lanka.

Affan secured the championship after dominating 23 out of 24 games, establishing an unbeatable lead, according to a press release. His achievement follows his brother Ali Salman’s win of the World Youth title in 2022, marking the first time in history that two brothers have both won this prestigious championship.

Pakistan’s team performed exceptionally well, winning several accolades, including the team trophy for being the top team overall. Four Pakistani players finished in the top ten: Bilal Asher in 5th place, Ibrahim Mansoor in 8th, and Aehzam Ahmed in 10th. Bilal Asher also earned the under-14 title, while Zayan Zaman was recognized for the highest single move score. Additionally, Waseem Khatri won the adult side tournament, further adding to Pakistan’s impressive performance.
