Commitment to CPEC’s Growth and Upgradation Reaffirmed
China-Pakistani and Chinese Military Leaders Hold In-Depth Talks on Regional Security. Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is scheduled to make an official visit to Pakistan next month, in October, according to sources. This visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations through the multi-billion-dollar corridor project and various cultural exchange initiatives.
This will be the first visit by a Chinese prime minister to Pakistan in 11 years, since Li Keqiang’s visit in May 2013. During that visit, Li Keqiang emphasized the importance of prioritizing cooperation in power generation.
Prime Minister Li Qiang is expected to be in Islamabad from October 14 to 16. His visit will include the signing of “significant agreements,” including proposals for the phased construction of the ML-I railway track. Additionally, there is a plan for him to address a joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament. On October 16, Premier Li will also participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting for heads of government.
Pakistan will host the SCO heads of government meeting from October 15 to 16, which will be preceded by a ministerial meeting and several rounds of senior officials’ meetings focusing on financial, economic, socio-cultural, and humanitarian cooperation among SCO member states.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch confirmed on Thursday that Pakistan has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the SCO meeting in Islamabad. Additionally, reports indicate that Pakistan has also extended an invitation to Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to attend the event.
