Pakistan US Trade $20 Billion Target Set for Next Five Years
Dar Meets US Lawmakers and Business Leaders to Boost Ties
Pakistan & US – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Pakistan and the United States are aiming to reach the Pakistan US trade $20 billion mark within the next five years. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared this goal while meeting a visiting US congressional team and a group of American business leaders on Tuesday.
The meeting took place at the Foreign Office. Dar spoke with lawmakers Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner about trade, investment, and ways to grow economic ties between the two nations.
Dar told the guests that Pakistan welcomes American businesses. He said the country’s investment climate is getting better every year, and now is a good time for US firms to step in.
He also pointed out that Pakistan values its long friendship with the United States. Both countries, he said, have huge potential to help each other grow, since they are home to the fifth and third largest populations in the world.
Right now, trade between the two nations stands near $9.4 billion. This makes the US Pakistan’s biggest single-country export partner. Dar believes this number can double in the coming years if both sides keep working together.
He also spoke about fair trade. Dar said Pakistan wants trade deals that help both economies and improve lives for people on both sides.

Pakistan buys a large amount of cotton and soybeans from American farmers. It is also becoming a growing market for US energy products. At the same time, Pakistan needs modern machines and technology, which gives US companies a big chance to sell more.
Dar mentioned that many top US firms are already looking into Pakistan’s tech, AI, minerals, energy, and manufacturing sectors. He said Pakistan’s reforms and friendly tariffs make it an even better place to invest.
He also talked about the Special Investment Facilitation Council, known as SIFC. This platform helps investors by making approvals faster and easier. Dar asked business leaders to use SIFC to turn their ideas into long-term projects.
The government, he said, wants to grow trade in many areas. This includes IT, AI, energy, farming, and other new industries.
Dar also said Pakistan is ready to offer good incentives, such as special economic zones and tech parks, to attract more US investment.
He hoped that big US financial groups like the Export-Import Bank, DFC, and USTDA would keep supporting trade growth between both countries.
Dar invited American investors to become long-term partners in Pakistan’s growth. He assured them that the government, led by PM Shehbaz Sharif, will help them succeed.
He added that Pakistan’s embassy and consulates in the US are ready to help investors connect with the right people back home.
Talking about peace, Dar said Pakistan believes in solving problems through dialogue, not conflict. He said the country has worked hard to build a peaceful image around the world.
He asked the American delegation to share Pakistan’s positive image and help others learn about its business potential.
The US lawmakers praised the Pakistani community living in America. They called them an important bridge between both nations. The two sides also discussed regional peace and stability during the meeting.
