Pakistan – US – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has called for an early start to Pakistan US direct flights, stressing that the relationship between the two countries stands on a strong foundation of mutual trust and shared goals. He made these remarks during a face-to-face meeting with Paul Kapur, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, held on Friday.
The meeting also brought together US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and senior officials from both sides. Topics covered a wide range, from regional security to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
Naqvi said Pakistan and the United States have grown closer during President Donald Trump’s time in office. He described the current ties as stronger than before and said both governments are working together on key issues including counterterrorism and counternarcotics. He also confirmed that Pakistan has made sure US companies working on the Reko Diq mining project are fully protected and safe.
On the Middle East, Naqvi said Pakistan hopes to see a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict. Kapur responded positively, praising Pakistan for its efforts in promoting peace and stability across the region.
The push for direct air links between the two countries comes at a good time. PIA recently resumed its direct flights to London after a six-year break. The first flight took off from Islamabad on March 29, with more flights planned from Lahore to London as well.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had earlier said that Pakistan would soon see its national airline grow its fleet and bring back direct flights to more cities in the UK, Europe, and Canada. He also shared that the government is in active talks with US aviation authorities to restore direct flight operations to America.
This is a clear sign that Pakistan’s aviation sector is turning a new page, and the demand from the Pakistani community living in the United States makes these direct routes more important than ever.
