Robinson Double Strike Puts Pakistan Under Pressure at Headingley
LEEDS: (Sports Desk) – Pakistan endured a difficult start to the opening Test against England at Headingley, losing two early wickets for just 19 runs after England opted to bowl first.
England captain Joe Root won the toss and chose to field, putting Pakistan’s top order under immediate pressure.
Pakistan’s innings began disastrously when Aazan Owais was trapped lbw by Ollie Robinson from the very first delivery. Robinson struck again shortly afterwards, dismissing Shan Masood lbw with Pakistan’s score still only six runs.
With regular Test captain Babar Azam unavailable due to injury, Salman Ali Agha has taken charge of the Pakistan side for the opening match of the three-Test series.
Pakistan’s lineup features Imam-ul-Haq, Aazan Owais, Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Ali Usman, Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Abbas, alongside captain Salman Ali Agha.
England’s playing XI includes Joe Root, Emily Guy, Ben Duckett, Jordan Cox, Harry Brook, Dan Larson, Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Ollie Robinson and Josh Tong.
Pakistan will now need a solid partnership to steady their innings, while England’s bowlers will look to maintain the pressure and exploit the early movement at Headingley.
