Pakistan signs deal with Lebanese firm to build Faisalabad greenfield airport.

Faisalabad Takes a Giant Leap Forward as Pakistan Locks In Plans for a Brand New Modern Airport

Faisalabad – (Web Desk) – Pakistan is taking a big step forward for Faisalabad. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has signed an agreement with a well-known Lebanese engineering firm called Dar Al-Handasah. Together they will work on building a brand new airport for the city.

This signing officially starts the planning phase of the project. It is a important moment for Faisalabad and for Pakistan’s future in aviation.

The agreement was signed by PAA Director General Zeeshan Saeed and Dar Al-Handasah Country Manager Rami Bediwoun. Several other senior officials from both sides were also present at the ceremony to witness this milestone.

The actual construction work is planned to begin on April 21, 2026. Consultancy services will be handled by a joint team called DAR-OCL-ASIAN JV.

So what exactly is a greenfield airport? Simply put, it is an airport built on fresh land where nothing existed before. There are no old buildings to tear down. Engineers can start from zero and design everything the modern way.

This approach has many benefits. It saves time. It saves money. And it allows for smarter and cleaner designs.

Around the world, greenfield airports are becoming very popular. Big cities like Beijing, Istanbul, Sydney and Chennai have already gone this route. In the coming 20 years, the total number of airports worldwide is expected to grow from 133 to around 500. Most of those new airports will be greenfield projects.
