Pakistan rejects CBS report on Iranian aircraft claims

FO denies CBS report on Iranian aircraft at airbase

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan has strongly denied a CBS News report claiming the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase, calling the story misleading and sensational. Islamabad said such speculative reporting is aimed at undermining regional peace efforts.

Officials clarified that during the ceasefire period and the initial phase of the Islamabad talks, aircraft from Iran and the United States landed in Pakistan to assist in transporting diplomatic delegations, security personnel, and administrative teams involved in the process. Some of these aircraft and support staff remained temporarily in the country in anticipation of further rounds of engagement.

Although formal negotiations have not fully resumed, diplomatic contacts at senior levels continue. In this regard, visits by Iran’s foreign minister to Islamabad were facilitated through established logistical and administrative arrangements.

Pakistan further stated that the Iranian aircraft currently stationed in the country arrived during the ceasefire phase and are not connected to any military activity or contingency planning. Any claims suggesting otherwise were rejected as unfounded and misleading.

Reaffirming its position, Pakistan said it has consistently acted as a neutral and constructive facilitator for dialogue and de-escalation, ensuring transparency and coordination with all relevant stakeholders.

The country reiterated its commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting long-term regional peace and stability.
