Inflation Surges in Pakistan Despite Weekly Price Relief

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – The Federal Bureau of Statistics has issued its latest weekly inflation report, revealing a noticeable rise in the country’s annual inflation rate. According to the data, inflation has climbed to 13.98 percent, compared to 12.16 percent recorded just a week earlier. The report highlights that prices of 19 essential commodities went up over the past week, while 9 items saw a decline and 23 remained unchanged.

Among the key increases, potato prices rose by 3.13 percent, bread by 0.91 percent, and cooking oil by 0.69 percent. Additionally, essential food items such as eggs, mutton, chicken, and ghee also became more expensive. On the other hand, consumers experienced some relief as tomato prices dropped significantly by 27.65 percent and onions by 9.35 percent. Prices of diesel, LPG, flour, and sugar also recorded a decrease. Despite these mixed changes, the report notes a slight weekly decline in inflation by 0.33 percent.
