Pakistan Continues Mediation Role In US-Iran Diplomatic Process

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir, met with the Iranian delegation in Bürgenstock on the sidelines of ongoing US-Iran technical-level discussions.

The Iranian delegation was led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The meeting was held as part of follow-up discussions related to the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,” aimed at advancing commitments agreed between Washington and Tehran.

The Iranian delegation arrived in Switzerland to continue diplomatic engagement regarding the implementation of the Pakistan-facilitated memorandum between the United States and Iran. The group, referred to as “Minab 168,” arrived ahead of the discussions.

The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland welcomed the arrival of the Iranian delegation, stating that the talks were linked to efforts to implement the memorandum reached with the United States.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir also met with the US delegation at the Lake Lucerne Summit in Bürgenstock.

The US delegation, including Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, held discussions with the Pakistani leadership ahead of the US-Iran talks.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, with both sides exchanging greetings and expressing goodwill. The engagement highlighted continued diplomatic communication between Pakistan and the United States as regional peace efforts continue.
