Pakistan Hockey Team Skips Spain Tour, Heads Straight to Argentina for FIH Pro League

Head coach Tahir Zaman will lead the team during the Pro League campaign, aiming to build on Pakistan’s recent strong form.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan national hockey team will no longer travel to Spain for preparatory matches ahead of the FIH Pro Hockey League due to time constraints and logistical challenges. Instead, the squad will fly directly to Argentina, where they will kick off their Pro League campaign early next month.

Team officials confirmed that the Pakistan squad for the upcoming training camp will be announced in the coming days, with departure scheduled for the first week of December. The Green Shirts are set to face the Netherlands on 10 and 13 December, and hosts Argentina on 12 and 15 December in the opening phase of the league.

The side delivered a commanding performance in Bangladesh, defeating the hosts 10–3 in the final match of a three-game qualifier series at the Maulana Bhashani Stadium. With victories in all three fixtures, Pakistan secured a clean sweep and earned qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026.

The World Cup Qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Belgium from 28 February to 8 March 2026, and Pakistan enters the tournament with high hopes following their impressive performances in recent international competitions.
