Enovy reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding scientific and educational cooperation with China

SHENYANG (Web Desk) – Pakistan and China marked a significant step forward in scientific and academic cooperation with the inauguration of the Pakistan-China Joint Research Centre at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SYUCT) in Liaoning Province on Tuesday.

The centre was inaugurated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, alongside senior Chinese officials, including Prof. Xu Guangwen and SYUCT President Prof. Qin Gaowu.

Established as part of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, the centre aims to promote collaboration in research, science, technology, and higher education.

The initiative follows a Document of Understanding signed between the Embassy of Pakistan and SYUCT in June 2025, as well as cooperation agreements with three Pakistani institutions — the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), NED University of Engineering and Technology, and the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Hashmi said the centre would serve as a bridge between academia, technology, and industry, fostering joint research, knowledge-sharing, and skills development. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding scientific and educational cooperation with China.

Chinese officials described the centre as the first China-Pakistan joint research platform established at a local Chinese university, expressing confidence that it would strengthen innovation, talent development, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Representatives from the partner Pakistani universities, faculty members, and international students, including four from Pakistan, also attended the inauguration ceremony.
