Opposition Ready for Talks, Government Not Serious: Raja Nasir

Islamabad: (Special Reporter) – Opposition Leader in the Senate Raja Nasir Abbas has said that the opposition is willing to engage in political dialogue, but claimed the government is not showing seriousness toward negotiations.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Raja Nasir Abbas said the opposition has consistently supported resolving political matters through talks and contacts. He said Mahmood Khan Achakzai had also suggested meetings at Parliament’s Constitution Room and even offered discussions at his residence.

He alleged that the government was avoiding meaningful political engagement and was not interested in serious dialogue to address ongoing issues.

Raja Nasir Abbas said the opposition is prepared to meet the prime minister and government representatives for constructive talks, urging the government to take practical steps.

He added that although he was currently in Iraq for Arbaeen, he would return to Pakistan immediately if talks were scheduled.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz Ain Pakistan, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, said that a positive atmosphere exists for negotiations but accused the government of creating hurdles.

He claimed that if the government was genuinely interested in talks, it would not have required opposition leaders to submit anti-terrorism-related documents. He also alleged that restrictions on meetings with opposition figures in Adiala Jail were creating further difficulties.
