OGDC Starts Gas Production at Sahito-1

*ISLAMABAD-(News Desk)-Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) on Tuesday announced the start of gas production from the Sahito-1 discovery well, located in the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand) within the Khewari Exploration Licence in Sindh’s Khairpur district.

The company had disclosed the gas discovery at Sahito-1 on March 26, 2026. The well is currently yielding around 6.0 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD), with output expected to rise as additional surface facilities are installed and brought online. The commencement of production marks a significant step towards the early commercialisation of the discovery and reinforces OGDC’s efforts to enhance domestic energy supplies.

To facilitate early monetisation of the discovery, OGDC has laid a 6-inch, 5-kilometre flowline connecting the well to the Suleman Gathering Facility for onward processing at the Sinjhoro Plant. The processed gas is being injected into the network of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGCL).
Sahito-1 is located in the Khairpur district of Sindh. OGDC, as operator of the Khewari Exploration Licence, holds a 75 percent working interest in the joint venture, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 25 percent interest.
The commencement of production from Sahito-1 marks another important milestone in OGDC’s efforts to accelerate the development and monetisation of indigenous hydrocarbon resources, strengthen domestic energy supplies, and contribute to the country’s energy security.
