ISLAMABAD: Novak Djokovic, 38, has reaffirmed his commitment to Grand Slam tennis, calling it the “ultimate challenge” and his main source of motivation. Despite a season marked by inconsistency, the Serbian star remains focused on delivering top performances where it matters most.
Djokovic, who last lifted a Grand Slam trophy at the 2023 US Open, added a significant milestone to his career by clinching his first Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games, defeating rising star Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Speaking ahead of his 2025 US Open campaign, Djokovic explained his enduring drive to compete at the sport’s highest level.
“I prioritise Grand Slams. That’s why I still want to play my best tennis,” he said.
“Those are the tournaments where the magic happens… Being a tennis player in a Grand Slam, there is no higher peak to climb.”
While acknowledging the physical toll of more than two decades on tour, Djokovic expressed confidence in his preparation and form:
“I’m in a good position to play good tennis… I always believe in it.”
