No Afghan to Stay in Islamabad Without NOC after December 31: Naqvi
Naqvi further praised the peaceful resolution of the protests, noting that it was a positive outcome that the protesters left with dignity.
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Wednesday that, starting December 31, no Afghan citizen will be allowed to stay in Islamabad without a No-Objection Certificate (NOC). This decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to tighten security and regulate the presence of foreign nationals in the capital.
Naqvi made this announcement during his visit to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, where he met with Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC), and police personnel who were injured during recent clashes with PTI protesters. Accompanied by Rangers Punjab DG Maj Gen Muhammad Atif, Naqvi inquired about the well-being of each injured officer and commended their bravery and resilience in the face of adversity.
The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing the best medical treatment to the injured personnel, referring to them as “heroes of the nation” for their courage and patience despite the chaos.
During his visit, Naqvi also refuted claims of fatalities during the security operation against the protesters. He categorically denied the reports of deaths, asserting, “No policeman carried a gun during the operation. I challenge those spreading false propaganda to name a single individual who was killed.”
