Naseem Shah Fined 10% Match Fee, Islamabad United Advances to PSL Playoffs

Islamabad United’s pace bowler, Naseem Shah, has been fined 10% of his match fee for breaching the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Code of Conduct during a recent match against Multan Sultans. Shah was found guilty of violating Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct by kicking the stumps after the final ball of Multan Sultans’ innings.

Despite the disciplinary action, Islamabad United emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Multan Sultans, securing a three-wicket win in Rawalpindi. This victory propelled Islamabad United into the playoffs, making them the third team to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.

Acknowledging his mistake, Shah pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions imposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama. His actions were categorized as a level 1 breach of the PSL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Meanwhile, Multan Sultans also faced disciplinary action for maintaining a slow over-rate during the same match. The team was found to be one over short of their target, leading to each player being fined 10% of their match fee in accordance with Article 2.22 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct.
