Nadia Khan Alleges Bollywood ‘Khans’ Sparked Ban on Pakistani Talent

Claims Fear and Insecurity Led to Restrictions Amidst Rising Popularity

KARACHI: Actress and television host Nadia Khan has claimed that when the popularity of Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan and Wahaj Ali began to soar in India, some Bollywood stars, including the ‘Khans’ (Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan), instigated a ban on Pakistani talent out of fear and insecurity.

In a TV programme, she asserted that the success of Fawad Khan and Wahaj Ali in India prompted concerns among some Bollywood figures, leading to a politically motivated restriction on their opportunities.

She suggested that this apprehension stemmed not from a threat to the availability of film roles, but rather from a perception that the Indian audience had developed a strong affinity for Pakistani performers.

In her analysis, Nadia Khan emphasized the distinct style of Pakistani actors, noting their emphasis on nuanced performances over action sequences and physical appearances. She highlighted their mastery of Urdu dialogue and emotive delivery as factors that intimidated their Indian counterparts.

Furthermore, she pointed to the growing popularity of Pakistani dramas in India, citing recent successes featuring actors like Wahaj Ali and Bilal Abbas. She suggested that the influx of Pakistani talent posed a potential challenge to established Bollywood stars, as in India, Pakistan was perceived to possess a wealth of untapped young talent.
