Motorway Police Issue Eid Travel Advisory, Enforce Lower Speed Limits

Motorway Police urge safe driving as Eid traffic rises

National Highways Authority – (Web Desk) – The National Highways and Motorway Police has shared a travel advisory before Eid ul Fitr. They asked people to stay careful as more traffic is expected on roads and motorways during the holidays.

A spokesperson from the Central Zone said extra steps are in place to manage traffic and keep people safe. Drivers are asked to follow lower speed limits and drive with care.

On motorways, cars and light vehicles can go up to 100 km per hour. Buses and heavy vehicles should not cross 90 km per hour. On highways, cars can drive at 80 km per hour, while heavy vehicles must stay within 65 km per hour.

Drivers are also reminded to stay in their lanes, wear seat belts, and avoid risky driving. People can call helpline 130 or check official social media for updates before they travel.

At the same time, strict action is being taken against overcharging and traffic violations under the orders of Inspector General Sultan Chaudhry. Officials said many vehicles were fined for overloading, and several buses were told to return extra money to passengers.

Thousands of fines were also issued for overspeeding under the new limits. Authorities warned drivers to stay alert, especially on highways where rain can make roads slippery.
