Metro Bus Service Suspended Islamabad Today Over Iranian President's Visit

ISLAMABAD – (Web Desk) – Metro Bus service suspended Islamabad today as the city administration shut down operations across the capital ahead of a high-profile diplomatic visit. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a one-day official visit.

The bus service remained operational only between Saddar Station and Faizabad in Rawalpindi. Timings were limited from 6 am to 7 pm.

The route from Islamabad IGP to the Pakistan Secretariat was completely suspended. Commuters on this stretch were left without Metro Bus access for the entire day.

All bus terminals in the capital were shut down on Monday night. The closure was enforced as a security precaution before the Iranian president’s arrival on Tuesday morning.

Over a thousand police officers and paramilitary troops, including Rangers, were deployed across the Red Zone and near key government buildings. Security was also tightened along the route from the airport to the Red Zone.

Police teams were checking hotel and guesthouse records in and around the Red Zone. Guests staying in the area were being verified as part of the security operation.

President Pezeshkian is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Talks are expected to focus on trade, regional security, and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
