Meta Rolls Out New Scam Detection Tools
Meta Introduces Advanced Scam Detection Across Facebook WhatsApp Messenger
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Meta has announced new scam detection tools across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger aimed at protecting users from suspicious activity.
On Facebook, Meta is testing alerts for suspicious friend requests. Users will be notified if a friend request comes from an account exhibiting unusual behavior, such as having no mutual friends or listing a different country as its location. This allows users to make an informed decision to accept or reject requests.
WhatsApp is introducing device linking warnings to prevent scammers from gaining access to users’ accounts through deceptive linking requests. The alerts will provide information on the source of the request and flag it as potentially fraudulent.

Meanwhile, Meta plans to roll out Advanced Scam Detection in Messenger across more countries. While the company has not revealed the specific regions, the feature will warn users of scam-like behaviors when chatting with new contacts, helping users avoid potential fraud.
