Federal government commits to safeguarding journalists’ rights and employment

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar on Monday reiterated that the government places high importance on the protection and welfare of media workers, stressing that ensuring journalists’ rights and job security remains a key priority, as reported by 24NewsHD TV.

While addressing the National Assembly, he said that both federal and provincial authorities are actively engaged in supporting media organizations and improving working conditions for journalists across the country. He added that efforts are underway to ensure stability in employment along with access to better professional benefits for media personnel.

The minister noted that the matter of journalists’ job security would be formally discussed with the Pakistan Broadcasters Association, and that consultations with all relevant stakeholders are in progress to resolve issues related to salaries, benefits, and employment protection.

He further stated that the government is committed to adopting practical measures to address long-standing concerns faced by media workers and to create a more secure and enabling environment for journalism in the country.

Ataullah Tarar also emphasized that both coalition partners and opposition parties will be taken on board to formulate a broader strategy aimed at resolving the challenges confronting media employees nationwide, ensuring continuous dialogue and coordination on the issue.
