She emphasized that responsible behavior is essential to reduce food waste in households, restaurants, and events. She described food wastage as an act of negligence and indifference.
The Chief Minister also announced that the one-dish policy would be enforced rigorously to combat food wastage. She warned that those violating this policy would face strict consequences.
In her message, she called on people to minimize food waste to ensure that future generations have access to safe and nutritious food.
Maryam Nawaz added, “Let’s create a society where everyone has access to food.”
World Food Day
World Food Day is being observed today (Wednesday) across the globe, including in Pakistan, with the aim of raising awareness about hunger and promoting action for the future of food, people, and the planet.
This year’s theme, “Right to food for a better life and a better future,” focuses on ensuring access to food as a fundamental right.
World Food Day, celebrated annually on October 16, marks the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945.
The day is also supported by numerous organizations focused on hunger and food security, including the World Food Programme (WFP), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
