Man Arrested for Using Facebook for Bomb Making

Prosecutors alleged that Hanan had been communicating with militants through Facebook.

LAHORE: A Lahore anti-terrorism court handed down a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence and a Rs. 50,000 fine to a man found guilty of searching bomb-making instructions online. Hanan Abdullah, who had been out on bail, was taken into custody right on the court premises after the verdict was announced.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) initially filed a case against Abdullah in 2022, alleging he had been looking for ways to make explosive devices on Facebook. ATC administrative judge Manzar Ali Gul, in delivering the judgment today, ordered Abdullah to be transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

Prosecutors alleged that Hanan had been communicating with militants through Facebook. They stated he was in contact with members of a terrorist organization as well. Based on the evidence gathered by investigators, the prosecution urged the judge to impose a fitting punishment on Hanan.
