KTH Peshawar Performs First Robotic Knee Replacement at Public Hospital

PESHAWER: (Web Desk) The Orthopaedics Department of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), Peshawar, has successfully performed a robotic-assisted knee replacement, with hospital officials describing it as the first procedure of its kind at a public-sector hospital in Pakistan.

The advanced surgery was carried out by Prof Dr Muhammad Siraj, Prof Dr Aul Hakeem and their expert medical team.

The procedure was also demonstrated live, providing orthopaedic surgeons from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa an opportunity to observe the latest surgical technique and gain practical knowledge from the procedure.

According to hospital officials, the achievement could pave the way for further advancements in orthopaedic surgery, medical training, research and academic activities across the province.

Dean Khyber Medical College Professor Dr Mahmood Aurangzeb congratulated the Orthopaedics Department on the achievement and expressed pride over the successful robotic-assisted knee replacement at KTH.
