Islamabad – In response to the escalating tensions and worsening humanitarian situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and surrounding areas, the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) has announced the immediate launch of an emergency relief operation.
According to the spokesperson, the initial phase focuses on preparing easily transportable food packages to be delivered to areas where food shortages have become critical. Simultaneously, KORT teams are compiling detailed records of the injured and displaced to ensure they receive prompt assistance.
Emergency medical kits, blankets, clothing, clean water, and other basic necessities are being assembled and dispatched to affected families along the LoC. Special volunteer teams are also being organized to visit remote villages, assess the needs of affected individuals, and provide tailored support.
In the next phase, KORT plans to set up temporary shelters, tents, and offer psychosocial support, especially for children and women suffering from trauma and stress. Additionally, efforts are underway to supply local hospitals with medical equipment and blood donations to support treatment efforts.
Notably, KORT Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Akhtar has urgently arrived from the United Kingdom to oversee and coordinate the trust’s emergency response on the ground.
KORT has appealed to philanthropists and the general public to donate generously during this critical time to help deliver timely aid to the affected families and assist them in rebuilding their lives.
It is worth mentioning that KORT has a long-standing reputation for its active role in responding to natural disasters and humanitarian crises, and it remains steadfast in its commitment to providing all possible assistance in this latest emergency
