Kashmir Conference Dallas Texas Calls for Peaceful Settlement of Disputed Region

Dallas – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – A recent Kashmir conference Dallas Texas event marked the anniversary of India’s move to strip Jammu and Kashmir of its special status. The gathering ended with a strong call for a peaceful and lasting solution to the long-running Kashmir dispute.

The event brought together members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities living in the United States. Representatives from Sikhs for Justice and several other community leaders also joined the discussion.

Friends of Kashmir organized the conference. Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston, Aftab Chaudhry, attended as the chief guest. Ghazala Habib, who chairs Friends of Kashmir, led the proceedings throughout the event.

Many speakers voiced deep concern for people living in Indian-administered Kashmir. They pointed to India’s 2019 decision to remove Article 370 and Article 35A, which had granted the region special constitutional rights.

Chaudhry told the audience that Pakistan stands firmly with the Kashmiri people. He said his country will keep offering diplomatic, political, and moral backing to those affected by the region’s changed status.

He also noted that scrapping these two articles made the ground situation far more difficult. According to him, the move added fresh layers of tension to an already sensitive issue.

Ghazala Habib urged world powers to pay closer attention to what Kashmiris are going through. She highlighted a shared history between Kashmiri and Sikh communities, built on common struggles and mutual support.

Habib added that both groups remain committed to standing beside each other. Their shared goal, she said, is pushing for justice and basic human rights on a global stage.

Several other voices joined the conversation, including Aftab Siddiqui, Syed Fayaz Hasan, Ghulam Jahangra, and Dr. Fareeha Qazi. Each speaker asked the world community to take a more hands-on role.

Their shared message was simple: lasting peace in Kashmir requires real international involvement, not just words. They stressed that silence only lets the situation drag on further.

Gurvinder Singh spoke on behalf of the Sikh community present at the event. He said young people must be pulled into this cause early, so the fight for justice doesn’t lose momentum over time.

Singh believes lasting change needs steady, long-term effort. He said passing this responsibility to the next generation is key to keeping the movement alive.

By the end of the event, attendees agreed on a formal resolution. It calls on the global community to back a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue.

The resolution also references relevant United Nations resolutions on the matter. It further pushes for stronger protection of basic rights for people living in the disputed region.

The Dallas gathering reflected growing diaspora efforts to keep Kashmir in international conversations. Organizers hope such events continue building pressure for a fair and lasting outcome.
