Kane Williamson Becomes Fourth-Fastest Batter to Reach 19,000 International Runs
LAHORE: Kane Williamson has added another remarkable achievement to his storied cricket career, becoming the fourth-fastest batter to reach 19,000 international runs. The New Zealand cricket star reached this landmark during his side’s Champions Trophy semi-final against South Africa in Lahore.
Williamson brought up the milestone in the 20th over of the match with a single off South African pacer Marco Jansen, completing the feat in 440 innings. He now joins an elite group of players, with Virat Kohli (399), Sachin Tendulkar (432), and Brian Lara (433) ahead of him in the race.
The 33-year-old right-hander becomes the 16th player overall to achieve this feat and the first New Zealander to reach 19,000 international runs, cementing his legacy as one of the game’s all-time greats.
In the ongoing match, Williamson’s contributions were significant, bringing up his 48th ODI half-century off 62 balls and forming a crucial partnership with Rachin Ravindra for the second wicket. His consistency and leadership in New Zealand’s batting line-up continue to make him a pivotal figure for the Black Caps.
This match also marks Williamson’s 384th international appearance for New Zealand, where he has been a mainstay since his debut in 2010. Across formats, he has accumulated 9,276 Test runs at an average of 54.88, over 7,100 ODI runs at 49.11, and more than 2,500 T20I runs at a strike rate of 123.08.
In addition to surpassing Ross Taylor (18,199) and Stephen Fleming (15,289), Williamson now leads New Zealand’s all-time run charts, further solidifying his status as the nation’s premier batter.

Williamson’s outstanding form in 2025 has been vital for the Black Caps, with 341 runs in just seven innings at an average of 68.20, including a match-winning 133* against South Africa earlier this year.
New Zealand will be counting on another stellar performance from Williamson as they aim to secure a spot in the Champions Trophy final against India on March 9 in Dubai.
