Justice Mansoor Ali Shah to Miss Key Events as He Departs for Umrah
Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is set to depart for Makkah on Thursday to perform Umrah, with plans to return after the swearing-in of the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
According to sources, Justice Shah will be unable to attend both the farewell reference for the outgoing Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa, and the swearing-in ceremony of the incoming Chief Justice, Yahya Afridi.
Traveling with his family, Justice Shah is expected to return on November 1.
A full court reference in honor of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will take place on October 25, with an address by Chief Justice-designate Yahya Afridi.
President Asif Ali Zardari will administer the oath to Justice Yahya Afridi as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan on October 26 at 11:00 AM during a ceremony at the President’s House, which will be attended by 300 guests.
Justice Shah’s absence will mean he will miss both the farewell and the swearing-in ceremonies.
