MUMBAI: (Web Desk) – Jofra Archer delivered a match-winning all-round performance as Rajasthan Royals secured the final playoff spot in the Indian Premier League with a convincing 30-run victory over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.

Promoted up the batting order, Archer smashed a quickfire 32 runs off just 15 deliveries, helping Rajasthan recover from a difficult position of 119-5 to post a competitive total of 205-8.

Rajasthan’s innings also featured valuable contributions from Dhruv Jurel, who scored 38, and Dasun Shanaka, whose aggressive 29 off 15 balls boosted the run rate late in the innings.

Teen batting sensation Vaibhav Soorayavanshi and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed early by Will Jacks and Deepak Chahar.

Archer then made a major impact with the ball, claiming 3-17 and dismantling Mumbai’s batting lineup. He dismissed Rohit Sharma for a duck in the opening over and later removed Naman Dhir and captain Hardik Pandya.

Despite a fighting 60 from Suryakumar Yadav and 34 from Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians could only manage 175-9 in their chase.

The victory lifted Rajasthan Royals to 16 points, officially confirming their place in the playoffs while knocking Punjab Kings out of the tournament. The result also ended the slim qualification hopes of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Already-qualified teams Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad will now be joined by Rajasthan in the knockout stage.

Bengaluru will face Gujarat in the first qualifier, while Rajasthan Royals are set to meet Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator match.
