Islamabad's Safe City Gets a Smart Makeover as Naqvi Pushes for Modern Policing and Smarter Urban Security

Islamabad – (Web Desk) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired an important meeting on Monday, during which a significant decision was made to rebrand Safe City Islamabad as Capital Smart City.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the ongoing progress of the Safe City Phase II project. Participants agreed that all remaining work must be wrapped up by May 30, 2026, ensuring the project stays firmly on track.

Minister Naqvi urged the relevant officials to stick to the agreed timeline and deliver the project without further delays. He also called for a thorough upgrade of the Central Command and Control System across the city, emphasizing the need for modern, efficient, and smarter urban security infrastructure for the residents of Islamabad.

He said that policing, traffic, and facilities for citizens should be integrated. Mohsin Naqvi said that a state-of-the-art Crime Control system with traffic management will be established in Capital Safe City.

During the meeting, participants approved the new design of Safe City Headquarters. Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi, gave a detailed and comprehensive briefing to the Interior Minister.

During the briefing, it was also informed that 75 percent work on Phase II is already completed.
