Ishaq Dar Advances Pakistan’s Diplomacy at UNGA with Focus on Palestine, Bilateral Ties

New York: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar participated in several key international events on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York. His engagements underscored Pakistan’s active role in promoting peace, stability, and cooperation on global issues.
At the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, Ishaq Dar welcomed the recent recognitions of the State of Palestine by France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Portugal, and others. He urged all remaining countries to follow suit, emphasizing the importance of honoring commitments under international law.

Pakistan reaffirmed its longstanding principled position on the Palestine issue during the conference. Ishaq Dar reiterated the strong affinity Pakistan shares with its Muslim brethren in the Middle East and expressed Pakistan’s unwavering support for all constructive efforts aimed at fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
Additionally, Ishaq Dar took part in consultations hosted by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Senior officials from Jordan, the UAE, Egypt, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye also participated. These discussions focused on exchanging views and coordinating unified positions on key issues ahead of the ongoing UNGA session. Dar emphasized the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Islamic countries.
In another significant engagement, Dar attended the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM) held at the UN Headquarters. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Commonwealth and its commitment to strengthening the organization amid evolving global challenges. Dar highlighted the Commonwealth’s crucial role in peace-building, climate action, youth empowerment, digital transformation, and boosting trade and entrepreneurship.
“Pakistan is proud to lead on the Commonwealth youth agenda, empowering young people to shape a more prosperous and peaceful future. We also remain at the forefront of advancing the Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda, championing initiatives that strengthen digital, physical, regulatory, and supply chain links across member states,” he stated.
On the sidelines of the UNGA, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also met with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. The two leaders acknowledged the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Canada relations, agreed to deepen economic and trade ties, and recognized the vital contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada.
Pakistan continues to demonstrate a proactive diplomatic approach, reinforcing its commitment to global cooperation, regional stability, and sustainable development through active participation in international forums.
