IRGC Denies Kuwait Airport Attack, Blames US Patriot

IRGC Denies Kuwait Airport Attack in Terminal Blast

IRGC denies Kuwait airport attack, claiming a failed US Patriot missile — not Iranian fire — destroyed the passenger terminal on Wednesday, killing one Indian national and wounding 63 others.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said their investigation found no IRGC shots were fired at the terminal. Spokesman Hossein Mohebi stated the damage was caused by an American Patriot missile that fell on the building after failing to intercept incoming Iranian missiles.

The Guards did confirm they targeted the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, which hosts US military helicopters. But they maintained the civilian terminal was not their intended target.

Kuwait’s defence ministry said 30 ballistic missiles and drones were launched in what it called “heinous Iranian aggression.” The attack caused serious damage to the terminal building.

India confirmed one of its citizens — a passenger at the airport — was killed in the blast. The Indian foreign ministry condemned the strike and urged all sides to stop attacking civilian targets.

Kuwaiti health officials said 63 people were treated for injuries including head wounds, brain bleeding, amputations, and explosion-related trauma.

Airport operations were briefly suspended but resumed the same day. Kuwait Airways flights returned to normal. The airport had only just fully reopened on June 1, after being struck multiple times earlier in the ongoing conflict.
