Iran World Cup Visa Denied 2026: US Blocks Key Staff

Iran Calls Out US Over World Cup Visa Denied 2026 Actions

Iran World Cup – (Web Desk) – Iran has officially condemned the United States after the Iran World Cup visa denied 2026 situation came to light, with key delegation members blocked from entering the country ahead of the FIFA tournament.

The Iranian embassy in Turkey spoke out on X, questioning why the US only announced player visas while staying silent about the denial of visas for managers, technical advisers, and executive staff — all essential members of any national football team.

US envoy Tom Barrack had praised the embassy in Ankara for processing visas for Iran’s football players. But Iranian sports outlet Varzesh3 reported that federation chief Mehdi Taj, along with analysts and executives, were still without visas.

Taj had told state television on Friday that he expected all visas to come through without issue. That confidence now appears to have been premature.

Facing uncertainty, Iran shifted their World Cup base from Tucson, Arizona to the Mexican border city of Tijuana — keeping the team close to their US match venues without relying on American hospitality.

All three of Iran’s group games are on US soil. Team Melli opens against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15, faces Belgium in the same city on June 21, then travels to Seattle to play Egypt on June 27.
