Iran Rejects Talks With US Under Threats
Tehran Rejects Talks After Alleged US Naval Incident
TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, has stated that Iran will not engage in negotiations with the United States under pressure or threats.
In a message posted on X early Tuesday, Ghalibaf strongly criticized US President Donald Trump, accusing him of acting under false assumptions. He said Washington is attempting to turn negotiations into a form of surrender or use them to justify further conflict, adding that Iran rejects any talks conducted under coercion. He also hinted that Tehran has prepared new strategic responses over the past two weeks.

The statement comes as uncertainty surrounds the next phase of talks between Tehran and Washington, following a reported maritime incident. Iranian officials claim that US naval forces targeted an Iranian merchant vessel in the Sea of Oman, describing the move as a violation of the ceasefire.
Iran’s military labeled the incident a breach of international maritime norms and emphasized that its defensive posture remains active, while expressing confidence in the country’s capabilities.
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian dismissed US warnings as pressure tactics, reaffirming that Iran will not yield to coercion despite ongoing political and military tensions. A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters also condemned the incident, calling it an act of aggression and maritime piracy.
