NHA increases Toll Taxes for Motorways & Highways from January 5

LAHORE: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced an increase in toll taxes for national highways and motorways, set to take effect from January 5, 2025. The revised tolls will impact vehicles traveling across major motorways and highways, including the M-1, M-3, M-4, M-5, and M-14, as well as the Islamabad-Murree Expressway and the Kohat Tunnel.

The updated toll rates reflect a rise across various categories of vehicles, with tolls for cars, buses, and trucks adjusted accordingly. For instance, the toll tax for cars on the M-1 motorway, which connects Islamabad to Peshawar, will increase from Rs460 to Rs500. Similarly, the toll for cars traveling on the M-3 motorway from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem will rise from Rs650 to Rs700.

On the M-4 motorway, spanning from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Multan, the toll for cars will increase from Rs850 to Rs950. The toll tax for cars on the M-5 motorway, connecting Multan to Sukkur, will now be Rs1,100, up from Rs1,050. On the M-14 motorway, linking Dera Ismail Khan to Hakkla, the toll for cars will be set at Rs600.

In addition to the motorway toll hikes, the NHA has revised tolls for national highways. Cars will face a toll of Rs60, wagons will be charged Rs100, and buses will pay Rs200. For trucks, tolls will range from Rs250 for 2 and 3-axle trucks to Rs500 for larger articulated trucks.

  • Multan-Sukkur M-5 Motorway:
    • Cars: Rs1,100
    • Vans (12-seater): Rs1,650
    • Buses (12-24 seats): Rs2,350
    • Buses (over 24 seats): Rs3,350
    • 2 and 3-axle trucks: Rs4,400
    • Articulated trucks: Rs5,500
  • Kohat Tunnel:
    • Cars: Rs150
    • Wagons: Rs450
    • Buses: Rs550
    • 2 and 3-axle trucks: Rs550
    • Articulated trucks: Rs800
  • Islamabad-Murree Expressway:
    • Cars: Rs150

These toll tax increases are part of the NHA’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the infrastructure of Pakistan’s motorway and national highway network.
