Imran Khan lawyer alleges denial of access to justice rights

Lawyer demands meeting with Imran amid legal access concerns

ISLAMBAD: (Web Desk) – Lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, representing former prime minister Imran Khan, has written to the superintendent of Adiala Jail, claiming that his client is being denied his fundamental right to access justice.

In the letter, Chaudhry stressed that Imran Khan’s signatures on a power of attorney are essential for filing appeals in the Supreme Court. He stated that despite visiting the jail twice, he was not granted permission to meet his client, alleging that the jail authorities are deliberately causing delays.

The lawyer further argued that such conduct reflects negligence on the part of prison officials and constitutes a violation of established jail regulations.

He warned that the deadline for submitting an appeal to the apex court is approaching rapidly, raising serious concerns about the legal process. Chaudhry also said he has brought the matter to the attention of the Inspector General of Prisons and informed the SP of Saddar Circle about its urgency.

Demanding immediate action, he called on the jail administration to allow him to meet Imran Khan within 24 hours to complete the necessary legal formalities.

Chaudhry also cautioned that legal proceedings could be initiated against jail authorities if access to his client continues to be denied.
